Jayakumar. D of the ADMK won in 2006 with 50,647 votes while Sarkunapandian S.P of the DMK came second with 37,144 votes. The DMDK candidate Royapuram.V.Babu got 5,033 votes.
Jayakumar. D, 50 years old in 2011, won with 65,099 votes or 57.89 percent while Manohar. R of the INC came second with 43,727 votes or 38.88 percent.
In 2016, Jayakumar is contesting again.
